Wayne,

I really admire what you're doing. Politicians talk, but you're really DOING something. Good for you! God bless. Be safe.

Re Austin, we've been in TX for 12 years now, and Austin is truly a lively, fun city. Add the Bob Bullock museum, LBJ library, state capital buildings to the list of things worth seeing. And, if one REALLY wants to get immersed in music the annual SXSW music festival (South by Southwest) draws bands and people from all over. Next Festival is 3/11-20/16.

Rick,

Thanks for the additional info. Sorry I missed this before. My Wife and I will be traveling with a few other couples. It should be about craft beer, good food and music. Any and all recommendations are appreciated. I see that there are 19 craft breweries in the Austin area! That's pretty amazing! Regarding music venues, do they just have both types of music; country and western, or can you find other music as well?

Cheers,

T Cobe

Hey T. you are a hoot!!!!!
BOTH kinds of music, COUNTRY AND WESTERN?????? That was FUNNY!!!!
6th Street. LOTS of kinds of music. Remember this is not just Willie Nelson country (who is awesome BTW) but you must go visit the Stevie Ray Vaughn statue. Just keep an ear open for the live music happening and you will be surprised at what all is available.
I caught Chris Whitley there when he was still alive,

and Bob Schneider

And if you can catch Joe Ely

I can't even remember how many great performers can be heard there, and when SXSW comes to town, LOOK OUT!!!!
You can have a great time there.
God Bless, Wayne

Hi, T Cobe

(This quote is getting kind of long). RE music venues, yes, there is all kinds of music in "the music Capital". For trip planning, you might visit austintexas.org/visit/music-scene/. You can do searches by type of music, events, other things to do, etc.

Wayne and Rick,

Thanks for the info. I really like getting the inside info and not just the chamber of commerce tourism info. Most of the hidden gems are known to the locals and don't often show up on the internet searches or tourism websites. If anything else comes to mind between now and March, please let me know.

Cheers,

T Cobe
