P. S. Don't be afraid to play with their positioning as they break in, toe them in more, or less, dial the bass up and down. They will take a bit of TLC to get the best out of them, but they are going to sound great in that room!!!!!

Thanks, Wayne. I will definitely continue to tweak my settings and layout a bit after I get about 100 hours on the Tritons. I use my theater for about 80% theater and 20% music. Content depends on company.
So far, I've managed to determine that I will use speaker level and LFE inputs. I've got a review that will post soon that will explain more in depth. I will say that no additional subwoofers are needed for LFE/bass for music or movies. At the 12:00 position on the gain nob and 0 dB gain, I have monster bass from the T1s!!
I haven't had much of a chance to watch any Blu-Rays yet but I will rectify this tomorrow. My Dad will be over tomorrow to watch Interstellar and listen to some tunes. He has a great ear and is an experienced audiophile. I'm sure we'll do some tweaking... More to come.
Cheers,
T Cobe

You're in for a treat sonically with Interstellar. Fantastic soundtrack with LOTS of LFE. Great movie overall as well. Watching it for the second time tonight.

I've got the T1s set up and have moved all my components to an adjoining room. The result is a clutter free and dark theater. I'm using a Logitech Harmony remote to control my gear in the other room. no more fumbling remotes!

Latest update on the evolution of my theater is the addition of an Emotiva XPA-5. I chose this amp to test the sound quality and power. I was hoping I would like the sound enough that I wouldn't need to go up another tier in cost to something like the Parasound Halo A51. I was also curious if the 200 wpc would be powerful enough for my T1s. I figured the XPA was worth a try and that worst case Scenario, I could use it for my future Atmos speakers. Additionally, many forum members have spoken highly of Emotiva so that certainly increased my comfort factor (thanks guys!).
On day one with the new amp, I was surprised how much "bigger" the T1s sounded. The added power really made them blossom. I have always considered the T1s to be a precision speaker. More of a scalpel than a sword. It is extremely detailed and musical but lacks some of the in your face pressure of large speakers with large drivers. Apparently I was wrong. The added power brought with it better dynamics, more powerful bass, added treble, and sustained the tonal accuracy of the mid-range drivers. Despite all that was right, the holographic imaging, transparency, openess, and 3 dimensional sound seemed diminished.
After more than a week of tuning, tweaking, and allowing the amp to break in, I finally decided I would play around with the speaker positioning again to see if that would make any difference. Several weeks ago I moved my T1s as far to the left and right of my screen as I could comfortably place them. They were very close to the side walls: about 20 inches. I made this move based on set up tips from GETs website and forum members' recommendations. At the time, with just my Integra receiver, it sounded fine and did widen the sound stage a bit. Today, I moved my speakers back to my previously successful 36" from each wall. What a difference!!!
After moving things around and resetting the spikes, my sound is right where I want it. The imaging, transparency, openess, and 3 dimensional sound are amazing! As far as power goes, the highest I care to have my volume is about -10 on my dial. I've had it as high as -5, but once the sound starts sitting over 90 dB, it's a bit loud for me. I enjoy peaks in the 90s, but running between 85 and 95 dB is a bit too hot for me. I know, if it's too loud, you're too old... Bottom line, I am happy with both the quality of sound and power of the amplifier. It emphasizes the need for proper speaker placement and how all things work together to make up the entire experience. The devil is in the details.
The next step will be a few Emotiva XPA-1Ls to run my T1s. One could argue that the T1s deserve better amps and I wouldn't disagree; however, I'm confident this combination will sound fantastic. The return on investment of the Emotiva amps make them a tremendous value even if they don't have the prestige that comes with far more expensive brands. I'd rather have a system that sounds like a million dollars than one that actually costs that much and the T1s make that easy to accomplish. With the money I save on equipment, I can try to build a music and movie library like Anthem and Wayne... . Happy listening, folks!
Cheers,
T Cobe
