Thanks for your purchase and joining the forum, enjoy! As far as power safety, the Triton Threes should be perfectly fine without protection, but there is no harm in adding high quality line filtering and surge protection.

Hi and welcome incidentflux,
I hope you really enjoy your fine system, and enjoy the music it makes.
The Moderator Dude gives good advice, especially regarding the surge protector.
I am sure it is much better these days, but a power surge once fried an expensive speaker tweeter for me in Kuwait.
In any case, enjoy the music!!!!
God Bless,
Wayne

Congrats on the purchase! I bet it sounds fantastic.

As for improvements, you haven't mentioned much about your listening environment. You'd be surprised as to how much influence this can have over the quality of sound you hear. The amount of reflective surfaces, size, and the placement of your speakers and listening positions often have a greater impact than even even a new amp or cabling!

And the best part, some of those improvements (tweaking placement, for example) are FREE!! ;)

Can you describe your listening position/environment? Or better yet, add some diagrams or pictures?

Thanks for the support. Shall share a room drawing with distance measurements soon.

I want to incorporate two, 6 Ohm bookshelf speakers as left, right, 'Presence speakers'. Should I set my Yamaha RX-A840 AVR to 6 Ohm or 8 Ohm? I don't want to degrade the life of the amp prematurely in the AVR or damage the Tritons.

Thanks.

Many thanks for the warm welcome :)

I shall draw and share a diagram soon with distance markings.

Change is challenging at times, and my HRTF is set to certain ways. So I had a hard time getting used to the sound of Tritons for Rock Music, they sounded not crunchy enough even with my specific EQ (photos attached). So much that I thought I should have gone for the Triton Two instead, because they have two midrange drivers. However making returns or upgrades in the UAE is tricky.

I felt a little bit better after I found this post 'I sold off the GoldenEar Triton system, and moved onto (gulp) Klipsch (more)' at hometheaterequipment dot com. Which made me feel better, since he had a similar problem, but I found a cheaper solution.

Long story short, I understand each speaker is different, and takes time to get used to. Therefore I connected my 13 years plus old Aiwa Mini HiFi SX-N999 speakers as left, right presence speakers (Yay Yamaha! AVR and DSPs).

Signal flow
Realtek HD (1150) S/PDIF 2 Ch (PCM) --> Yamaha RX-A840 7.1 (Cinema DSP) --> LR: Triton Three, C: SuperSat 50C, LR Presence: Aiwa SX-N999

I'm not sure if this would be considered 2+2+1.2 or just 5.2 straight, since the speakers are all in front and not surround.

Now I'm getting that room filling wall of sound feeling :)

PS: Audio purists and precision seekers please don't hate me ;-)

EDIT: Set the Yamaha RX-A840 AVR to 6 Ohm
