By now some of you might have heard about the Thai soccer coach (25) and his 12 member team (aged 11-16) who entered a cave 10 miles from our home 2 weeks ago and were trapped underground for 9 days. Now they have been found but it is 2 weeks now and they cannot safely get them out. They ignored signs saying not to enter, that these caves flood during rain season, which it now is--and the caves are flooded, they put others lives at risk to rescue them, and now one volunteer, a retired Navy Seal has died in there trying to help in the rescue.
We have been praying that they would be found, praying with the families, one mother in particular who is known by members of our church, we met with her and gave her some financial assistance (they are poor as church mice). Now praying that they can get them out.
They are so far in there, for rescuers to enter the cave, dive through several flooded spots, narrow spots, and get to the boys, then come back out takes 11 hours!!!! So many are helping in there that now the oxygen levels are down, they are pumping out water and pumping in oxygen.
All prayers are appreciated, I will try and answer any questions if I can, there are some good stories coming out of this, but all that has been overshadowed by the death yesterday of one rescuer.
Like Mom always said, it is all fun and games until somebody gets hurt.
Here is a pic of my wife and I at the staging area where we went to comfort one of the mothers, near the caves.
God Bless,
Wayne
God bless the child that's got his own.
