From Sandy:

"We pointed out to John that his measurement technique allowed for bleed through of information from the active drivers when measuring the output from the passive radiators. The result of this, when he put the curves together, was the odd 60 Hz bump, which in fact does not exist and is an artifact of the measurement technique. We pointed it out to John and he went back and remeasured them using a different technique which showed that we were correct. I have heard back from him and he will include a comment on this when he posts the review online. In terms of his comment regarding the setting of the woofer level control, I think that your comment is probably correct. It was odd that he found it perfect with piano at 12 o'clock, but had to turn it down for rock. T Ref delivers flat bass response down to 20 Hz, which he may not be used to."

Yeah, I was thinking about the measurement problem and thought it might be a phase issue, but your description makes perfect sense.

Thanks!

Note the full review came out in the latest Stereophile, including quotes from that interview. Made the front cover as well. I don't think the TRef review is up on their site yet. High praise, with a few quibbles. Must read!
