I don't listen at what most people would consider high volume levels. My room is not big enough for me to enjoy really loud music. So, any advantages of higher resolution music reproduction would need to be perceptible for me at low to normal listening levels.

I mentioned in a much earlier post in another thread that I was astounded at the difference in sound quality when I shifted from the Onkyo NR 3009 Receiver to the Cambridge 851 A Stereo Amp and the Cambridge DAC Magic Plus. I cannot recall any other change that I have made over the long course of my music listening which compares to that experience (not even when I began changing to GE speakers).

I remain interested in the advances offered by technology. But, given the limitations imposed by my listening environment, I am not expecting to make further equipment changes unless something dies.

However, I am always interested in learning about the new technology and sampling it when I can.

Happy listening and investigating.

Bro Art,
In your honor, I just tried out my new cello albums, again, mentioned above, Maya Fridman, by playing them at "normal" levels on my Triton Ones.
The files are 64 fs DSD 2ch for one and DXD, which is studio master, but plays as a HI RES FLAC file.
They both sounded awesome, even more so the DXD recorded one.
Hang in there, I think your experimentation will pay off, that you will find you can hear an audible difference, and a good one at that.
God Bless,
Wayne

I mentioned about the contest I entered to be a music reviewer for nativeDSD.com
I made it through the first round, have one more round to go.
I wish I had you guys' help!!!!
They are gonna publish one review online and IF they like my further submissions, will publish more regularly.
They just gave me 4 free albums!!!!
Once published there, I will share over here, in case any of you guys want to hear about some really great music downloads.
This is fun!!!!
Otherwise, I just got some music I ordered from Amazon, will have a listen and share about any of those worth talking about on another thread.
God Bless,
Wayne

Now that I have gone all GoldenEar (I recently change my sub to a Forcefield 4- wow what a difference!) I have been playing around with High Res. I need some help understanding this technology. I downloaded the free sampler from HDTracks. I have a MacBook Pro. I thought I did the download in ALAC but the files show up on my Mac as AIFF. Does it matter? I do know that AIFF files are much larger. Also, can I play the songs thru AirPlay and still get High Res at 24/96? I did copy them to a USB thumb drive and plugged that drive into my Marantz. The display did show 24/96.With the equipment I have, are there any suggestions for other sites to download High Res? It was certainly very clear and detailed sound when played through my GE speakers. As always thanks for all your help.
