I am moving into a new house soon.

I will be able to move my Triton Ref out of my home theater room into a 2 channel audio room.

I have always wanted to go back to tube amps specifically a Class A Single Ended amp.

Any recommendations or things that pair well with the TREF?

I was looking at Audio Note, Line Magnetic, Audio Research.

I was also recommended by a friend to try a tube like 211 or 805.

Thanks!

Hi there:
Tubes can be a Magical thing. After many years listening to tubes, amplifiers and preamps, my preference is a solid state amp paired with a tube preamp.

Concerning SET amps...Decware has come out with an updated model of the set amp that got them started in the business...Model SE84UFO25. I've not heard it, but it looks phenomenal!

www.decware.com/newsite/SE84UFO25.html

Also take a look at amps from Primaluna...Primaluna is a rock solid company with rock solid equipment.

D-Sonic m3a-600m Mono > McIntosh MC152 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Oppo UDP205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference > Isoacoustics Gaia 2 > Canare 4S11 Speaker Cables > Audience Forte 3, Anticable L3 & Shunyata Venom PC's

Every great performance deserves an Audience!

Anthem, as always, gave a great answer. The dude knows his tubes and amps!

If you don't have a tube preamp, another option to consider is hybrid amps, like from P S Audio Stellar series, Vincent etc. They combine the "tube sound" pre with the dynamic range of a beefy solid state output stage.

GoldenEar speakers are very efficient and easy to drive. A lot of folks on this forum have commented on how great their amp sounds driving their particular GEt speakers with a wide variety of amp brands and types, including class A tube amps. In part it depends on how much dynamic punch and reserve you want, I.E. listener preference. I have a solid state class D amp driving my T Ref's and other speakers, and Anthem does also. The dynamics are dynamite. I've also heard the T Ref's driven with a Primaluna tube amp. Sweet! A nod to the dynamics available from a higher power reserve solid state amp, but it really does come down to what "floats your boat" best.

Any chance you can hear some options before deciding? Wish I could help beyond that.

Happy listening!

Rick

Thanks for the recommendations. I have heard of Prima Luna from Kevin and Joel at Upscale Audio.

But the other brand I will look into...thanks again!

Yeah I live in NY so once things clear up I plan to do some demos on different amps to decide.

Yet another manufacturer to consider is Audio Hungary. They have two channel class A tube amps and they pair well with the T Refs. I posted a thread not long ago about how impressed the Audio Hungary dealer was with the T Refs (bass in particular).

Audio Hungary could be hard to come by as it is less popular than some of the other brands mentioned. Google it and if you're interested PM me and I can put you in touch with a dealer.

Reasonably priced.
Golden Ear Triton Reference (pair), Musical Fidelity M6si, Schiit Yggdrasil-OG-B, Oppo UDP-205, Emotiva ERC-3, LG OLED65C9PUA, Salamander Synergy Triple Unit SL20, Audeze LCD-X, GIK acoustic paneling
