Anthem, as always, gave a great answer. The dude knows his tubes and amps!
If you don't have a tube preamp, another option to consider is hybrid amps, like from P S Audio Stellar series, Vincent etc. They combine the "tube sound" pre with the dynamic range of a beefy solid state output stage.
GoldenEar speakers are very efficient and easy to drive. A lot of folks on this forum have commented on how great their amp sounds driving their particular GEt speakers with a wide variety of amp brands and types, including class A tube amps. In part it depends on how much dynamic punch and reserve you want, I.E. listener preference. I have a solid state class D amp driving my T Ref's and other speakers, and Anthem does also. The dynamics are dynamite. I've also heard the T Ref's driven with a Primaluna tube amp. Sweet! A nod to the dynamics available from a higher power reserve solid state amp, but it really does come down to what "floats your boat" best.
Any chance you can hear some options before deciding? Wish I could help beyond that.
Happy listening!
