Hi Guys,

I recently ordered my Amplifier Devialet pro 130 to drive my front triton 1 (i will use devialet for my music and use it with HT bypass for movies) Im so excited to try it with those great speakers.
for the rest of my setup SC XXL and triton 5 I'm torn for multichannel amp between new Anthem MCA 525 which was made to match up with anthem AVM 60 (my pre/pro is Anthem AVM 60) or use the parasound Halo a51 for the multichannel drive.
please advice

Hello drsharky and welcome to the GET forum!

I'm a two channel only person so in all honesty I'm not able to offer any specific advice other than the following:

- as of my writing, your post(s) is just a few hours old which is likely the reason others on this forum - who do have multi-channel home theater knowledge - haven't chimed in yet. So give this thread another 24 hours or so :)

- you may want to simultaneously post your question in the home theater section of the audiogon forum. I recall reading a few threads where the Parasound Halo is mentioned. forum.audiogon.com/topics/home-theater

Best of luck with your setup. :cheer:

I don't feel there's any magical synergy when matching amps to processors...Anthem to an Anthem, Parasound to Parasound, ect. I have an Anthem mca50 and an Anthem Statement P2, both good amps, but have had problems with them in the past, and personally, I feel they are overpriced. I also have an Anthem Statement d2v processor...nice unit, but overpriced. Currently I'm using Emotiva xpa-1 mono's for the front three channels, Anthem P2 > Surrounds, and a Adcom GFA 555-11 for rear surrounds. I've never heard or used Parasound products, so can't comment there. Have you considered ATI Amps? They look extremely interesting and they have a 7 year warranty. If I were looking for a multi-channel today, this is where I would start.

D-Sonic m3a-600m Mono > McIntosh MC152 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Oppo UDP205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference > Isoacoustics Gaia 2 > Canare 4S11 Speaker Cables > Audience Forte 3, Anticable L3 & Shunyata Venom PC's

Every great performance deserves an Audience!

drsharky,

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like some great gear in your setup. I'd love to audition a Devialet amp. They have very good reviews.

In response to your question, I may be able to provide some perspective. I own the AVM60 as well and have auditioned both Anthem and Parasound amps. I liked the musicality of the Parasound amps. The MCA 525 was very good in the home theater demo I conducted when shopping for the AVM 60. It was very detailed and dynamic. In the end, I just wasn't convinced that either amp was worth the price tag.

Like Anthem, from the forum, I went with Emotiva amps and have been pleased. Their price to performance ratio is pretty hard to beat. They now have distribution at some dealers and may be worth an audition.

I would recommend waiting until your Devialet is in place and do an in home audition with the MCA 525 and the Parasound A51 if possible. Seems like you've spent a considerable amount of money and any good dealer would foster that relationship by letting you conduct an in-home audition if they carry both brands. It would be good to hear how both mate with the Devialet before making a decision. I think the MCA 525 was pretty neutral and the Parasound seemed to have more of a "house sound".

If cost were no object, I'd likely go with Parasound A51 for home theater use and the JC 2 pre-amp with JC 1 monoblocks for home theater bypass on the front end. Just my .02 on the matter. You're going to have a lot of options and some really great sound in the end. Let us know how things come together!

Cheers,

T Cobe
