OK guys, I am trying to keep up.
Bro Roman, IF we ever have a GEt brothers get together, you get to be the one to make the waffles!!!!!
ha ha
Just one question: So, timing wise, you have not ordered the SSats for the living room yet, so IF you decided to, you could check these out and should you decide you should have gone with the Aons, you could always move these to being surround speakers in the living room later, right? Or did I get lost along the way?
That would make it a really great plan, IMHO. (Sorry but I really like the Aons!)
Just checkin'
Happy listening and editing/working,
God Bless,
Wayne

Ok....dialing it all in. Took longer than I thought to set it all up.

I am sure I will be fiddling with it for a while.

Listening to a nice FLAC of This.....

So....with the full SSat3 and even my OLD sub downstairs. I have the Onkyo driving it all and I spent a good amount of time tweaking it and let me tell you ...for a mid sized room.....this system SINGS....and it KICKS butt from the JM-Labs units I have had there. I am SOOOOOO glad I found Golden Ear speakers. Cant wait for the FF 4 to come in to finish up the downstairs surround sound. I think she will really like them tomorrow when she gets up and cranks the system up when she is doing her thing in the morning.

Back to the Desk system. Ok....my worries are over. Tweets are just below my ears, so going to find some little blocks or something to elevate them. I can lean down and get just a bit better sound stage on them. In the past my car has been my reference with a mix of Hertz and Audison speakers in them....I cant wait to get in my car and drive to work in the morning.....My desk system with just minimal tweaks is there with sound......the sound stage is still in adjustment stage but still already pleased. Playing it all with an EQ set for "night time" mode....(keep the bass down)....so no more playing.

The NAD amp is pretty interesting. Very small. Since is has no cutoff controls I routed the output down to the subwoofer and using its crossover.....routing out of that to the speakers. Its a little brute. I am very pleased. Imaging it good...its a DAC unit with class D amps but I have to tell you....the Rotel might have a slight edge...but for about 1/2 the price...and its small footprint and the quality I am hearing out of these units. Its warm, but not overly so. I was totally freaked out when the guy at the store changed amps from the Rotel to the Denon. It sound like he changed the speakers too....I had (to this day) never heard a GE unit sound "tinny"...but with that unit it really did deteriorate fast. So to have the NAD perform very close to the Rotel has really made my day.

Oh....and that sub....holy smokes. It is amazing already.....this one is brand new so will warm up over time. But it is very nice already.....no kidding you have to be judicious with the level knob. Have it at about 10:30 - 11:00 and the crossover is at about 100-105hz.

On to the SSat3's. Ok...I was worried about it......I will tell you now as I continue to sit here and listen to them....OMG....I did not need to be worried. the FF3 integrates perfectly. I am listening to some Carbon Based Lifeforms FLAC. I tweaked the EQ in the Asus audio manager just a hair....very little needed to be adjusted....almost perfect flat. Just a 1 or 2 set bump in the 250-500 range....1k back to 1....then flat after that.

Sound stage is pretty good for not having them at ear level. If I cant find a proper block to raise them about I might have to just mount them on the wall. If I physically raise them up about 8-10 inches....the sound field opens up considerably. I put them on my 100" speaker wire spools (about 5" up) and it helped a bit.....these might be wall mounters. That would be cool anyways...get them off my desk. I am sure the Aons might have had a bit better sound, but for an office....holy smokes this really has relieved all my fears. If ANY of you out there are thinking of the SSat3 as a main for an office setup.....just do it. If you have a HUGE office, maybe the Aon 2.

I edit my photography to music that really gets my juices going. HUGE open sound fields....not TOO much detail to get me out of my zen state. So this stuff is really important to me as I edit my life's work. Rest at ease. The unit I just bought will be more than enough to a creative state going. Thank you Sandy Gross and the team behind these units. They have truly elevated the musical arena in my life and that is SO important to me and what I do. I cant wait to get editing this weekend and spend time with the new system.

Will post more as I dial things in.....

Oh...and the gallery in Germany contacted me and sent me a picture of my work starring in their new gallery open in Zurich.

Night everyone. Hate to pull myself away from the listening experience...but gotta get to bed.

Roman

listened to that track on earbuds and I'm quite excited to hear it on the stereo system.
Current System:

Projector - Sony VPL-HW55ES

Ask me about espresso, I'm an expert at that... I'm just learning about audio!
