OMG...bouncing around and back and fourth....on my nearfield setup.

Looking at my desk space.....started thinking the Aon2 while awesome would be just friggin huge. I do need my real-estate for my primary function which is editing.

Anyone have any experience using SSat3's for Nearfield/Desktop speakers?

I also decided to downsize to the crazy small NAD D 3020. 30 very clean WPC, all the digital inputs I need and a sub out....all for $500.00.

And add a FF 3 and that should be a KILLER desk setup, keep my real-estate, give me good sound and bass.

My only concern is will I loose the wonderful sound stage I would have with the Aon2's. Music is pretty important to me but I do have the ability to tune the position of the speakers infinitely as I am dealing with them about 3 feet from me.

I know I have been waffling about a lot, but I want to get this right.....then have it all last another 20 - 30 years.

Roman,

Great call on the NAD! That should be perfect. In terms of speakers, why not order the NAD and try your SSat speakers from your living room with it first to see if you like the sound? Then you can decide on a permanent solution. Did you order the SSATs and sub for your living room yet?

Cheers,

Nope. I just called the store....they have the NAD unit in stock....the FF3 for my office and have to order the SSat3's as they are out of stock. Having them checking on overnighting them to me as I have a very long editing marathon to go though this weekend and would love to have it all in place by then.

I am taking a leap of faith and just getting the SSat3's and hoping that the that remarkable tweeter, the trickle-down of the mid drivers quality and the FF3 taking care of the bottom end will (and should) be enough. I purchased my mother board with audio in mind with the following specs....

RealtekĀ® ALC1150 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC featuring Crystal Sound 2*4
- Supports : Jack-detection, Multi-streaming, Front Panel MIC Jack-retasking
- High quality 112 dB SNR stereo playback output and 104 dB SNR recording input

I currently have the very nice Klipsch Promedia 2.1 running and the setup above should kick its butt royally.

Its those wonderful tweets creating the 3D image.....correct? Should be the ticket.....will just have to take time to tweak the sub/satellite balance. If I am horrified (Highly unlikely) the 3s can go in the bedroom for light TV duty and I can get the Aon2s later.

Decided on the FF4 for the living room to give a good balance. Not as spendy as the FF5, but good for medium sized living room.

And it all should sound awesome...and save me a few bones as well as desktop space.

Store just called me back. They have all of it in a pile ready for me to pick it up after work. :)

Will report back when I have it all set up and let you know how it all plays out.

Thought there were items not in stock... You lucky duck! Must feel like a kid at Christmas. I look forward to hearing back on the results. Hopefully you can break away from audio bliss long enough to post something. :)

Cheers,
