Hi all, I am going to upgrade by Blue-Ray player and want to add the SACD and HDCD formats. I see many people in the forum have both the Oppo 95 and 103's. I am looking for feedback on the advantages of these guy's.
I listen to pure music 30% of the time the rest is SS movies and some TV.

My setup is as follows:

T1's in front
SC XL center
SS 3's in rear
Emotiva XPA-2's on the T1's(bridged mode)
Emotiva XPA-1L on center
Yamaha RX-A1040 running the rears and pre/pro.
Sony BDP-S5200

Thanks!!
DT

Hey Splash51,
SS movies=Solid State movies????? Sorry got me there.
The 95 is what I have and it sounds great, the new equivalent is the 105. IF you don't worry about all the copy protection that has been put in now, go with the 105 for the BEST SOUND.
Otherwise IF you play lots of different discs from everywhere, you will need the 95 region free and no watermarks.
The 103 is fine if you are just gonna spin the discs and let your processor DAC decode them..
Hope this helped, happy listening, Concerts via the 95 or 105 are STELLAR!!!!!
God bless,
Wayne

Oh, surround sound movies????
So the 30% pure music you mean is P.O.S. "poor old stereo"?
I don't listen to that much any more, mostly in the car.
Have fun, God Bless

I agree with that Wayne character...the Oppo BDP-105D (Darbee Edition). If you're gonna upgrade, might as well get the best.

You'll have to forgive Wayne in regards to the P.O.S. remarks...he's elderly, and besides, it's past his bedtime. ;)
D-Sonic m3a-600m Mono > McIntosh MC152 > Primaluna ProLogue Premium Preamp > Oppo UDP205 > Decware ZLC > Triton Reference > Isoacoustics Gaia 2 > Canare 4S11 Speaker Cables > Audience Forte 3, Anticable L3 & Shunyata Venom PC's

Every great performance deserves an Audience!

Thanks guy's, I'm still laughing at Anthems remarks!!! yes Wayne it is Surround Sound and I do listen to P.O.S. I am also "old and it is always past my bed time":) I am leaning toward the 95 at this point.

Splash51,

I agree with Anthem here(not that I'm disagreeing with Wayne). Go big and get the 105D. It has better DACs on board and you can go straight from the player, through your amps, and directly into the T1s. Or if your receiver has the ability, simply pass the signal direct through your system with no additional processing. The 105(D) has the SABRE DACs which are supposed to be top notch. Of course this will only matter for the 30% That you listen to music and DAC preference is subjective. My 2 cents. Please share your decision and findings. You have a keen ear and a knack for describing what you hear very well!

Cheers,

T Cobe
