Anthem,

I apologize if I have offended Goldenear and/or its dealers regarding how they conduct business. I just assumed that dealers would follow standard retail business practice by stocking items that they sell. It appears that their business model is deliberately very different. I.e.,it sounds like they essentially have mostly demo equipment for customers to audition, then they special order items that customers commit to buy. This business model is probably very effective and appropriate for their intended market of high end audio visual equipment owners who live in big cities.

And thanks to you and Wayne for your help on connecting with a dealer. Without your help, I would have not been able to buy a SC3DA because I don't live anywhere near a city with a Goldenear dealer.

No apology needed - I just wanted to provide an explanation for others who might wonder the same thing. Glad our forum heros could help out!

I want to add a few points to what the Moderator said about the business model of a high end audio/video store, or any store that caters to the high end of any hobby. I spent ten years working for a high end audio video store. This was twenty years ago, but I think the business model should be the same.
1) Stores that cater to higher end product have less of a customer base. Less people are willing, or can afford, to spend money on the product. The product simply does not turn over as fast.
2) Obviously the product is significantly more expensive. It gets VERY expensive to keep a selection of every item carried in stock. Especially with less turnover.
3) Because of point #1 and 2 most of these stores are small independent businesses that do not have deep pockets. They cannot afford to have millions of dollars worth of stock sitting in the back. It is expensive enough just to keep one of each item for demo.
I know my points may be obvious. However, I just wanted to clarify some of the challenges the high end retailer faces.
