Thought I'd posted a reply earlier.... yes we're back and the system is set up and being fine tuned. Should be able to post some pic's in the next week or so. We'll see if I can keep the pic's to the right file size and dimensions! :)

Thanks! I have really been able to listen to my T references I watched three movies last weekend and a lot of different content and these speakers are phenomenal! I mean I am really blown away at the sound and performance. I love them I'm excited to see pics and hear your thoughts.

I'm still trying to start a plan for atmos! I am thinking about getting the T7 for sides and rearrange my 7000s.

Hey Ewardjr69

Really impressive system you've assembled, including some heavy duty amp power!

I'm guessing, since you had T1's fronts before the T Ref's, that the 7000's were in surround and rear surround duty?? So their relative positions are not ideal for repurposing, in place, as top front and top rear heights??? I don't envy the job of cutting new holes to reposition, repair where they were. BUT, going Atmos is an amazing step! Music blossoms, action movies become even more real...

Good luck with your thought process and next steps!

Thanks for the input. I'll try to give a sense of my height speaker placement in the pic's I post. I was fortunate that my current top rear height 525's were originally surrounds, and well positioned to be repurposed as top rears!

Enjoy your amazing system! Every systems is expanded a little bit at a time, and you're already in great SQ territory!

Happy listening!

Rick

First Post: I've got some references on the way. So just how good is the bass? Are subwoofers truly optional? I know asking this is opening a can of worms. Did anyone get rid of their subwoofer(s) after getting the references? I also know I'll have to make this decision on my own, based on my room and listening preferences etc...

Hi CaseyD,

I have Triton Ones. I frequently listen at relatively low volume. I use my external sub woofer to augment the bass when listening at lower volumes.

Hi, CaseyD

Welcome, and congrats on selecting the Ref's!!!!

Yes, they are truly exceptional speakers. Stunning even.

How good is the bass? Per the moderator Dude, with LFE connections, EACH Ref produces bass equivalent to a Supersub XXL. I believe it. Will that be enough for you? As a bass head like lots of folks on this forum, the question is always how much is enough. I get bass from front Ref's and surround T1's, and that, for me, is awesome. I'd probably love just the the Ref bass, but no way am I turning off the T1 bass....

Never had or wanted a free standing sub. Get awesome bass from my Tritons.

You are right, only you can decide what works for you. I'd suggest getting the Ref's installed, broken in, placed and toed in best for your room, make any bass adjustments you need to, listen for a bit, walk around your room and see how even the bass is, and then make a decision if you want more bass to get a bigger kick or even things out.

Keep us informed. You're gonna' love those Ref's! They are special.
